School Group Policy
Effective September 2002
Qualified school groups, each when traveling together as a group,
will be allowed to purchase tickets at the rate of $4.50. The $4.50
rate will apply to all group members ages 4 through 18 and to a
defined number of their adult chaperones. In order to qualify, the
groups must meet the criteria specified below:
In order to verify legitimate school group status, the group must
possess a school check or have a letter on school letterhead detailing
the date of the trip and the number of children & adults. The four-dollar
rate does not apply to any child beyond senior year of high school.
This rate does not apply to college students. The school group rate
is available for groups boarding at Battery Park, NY and Liberty
State Park, NJ.
Ticketing will be based on the following:
To determine the number of adult chaperones that are allowed to
purchase tickets at the discounted rate of $4.50, a ratio system,
based on the NPS guidelines of one adult chaperone to every ten
children, will be utilized.
For example, if the group consists of one hundred school children
(ages 4 through 18), plus an additional number of adult chaperones,
they can purchase tickets for up to ten of the adults at the four-dollar
rate. Any tickets purchased for adults in excess of the 10% ratio
will be at the applicable current standard adult or senior rate.
Pink school group tickets will be utilized for the children (through
age 18) as well as for the (10% allowable) adult chaperones, all
at the $4.50 rate.
This policy will also be extended to tour operators when they bring
qualified school groups meeting the criteria outlined above. For
example, the tour operators must present a letter from the school
detailing the date of the trip and the number of children & adults.
The school group rate policy will not be in effect during July and
August.
Circle Line reserves the right of refusal if any of a group's documentation
is not exactly as described above. For information about educational
and ranger guided activities, please contact Education Specialist
